There are three color options, "Fresh" mimics a freshly laid pine straw where "Weathered" offers a slightly weathered look. A mixture of the two colors reveals both a partially weathered look. The third color,"Slate," is a deep charcoal gray, perfect to create a depth of color to your landscaping .
Textraw Bale
Textraw is synthetic pine straw made from recycled polypropylene, which does not absorb water or chemicals. It recycles easily, from bottle scrap, carpet backing, fiber and yarn.
Textraw consists of:
65 %+ polypropylene, a photodegradable polymer;
25 %+ of calcium carbonate;
<1 % heavy-metal-free inorganic pigment
< .5% HALS (light stabilizer)Photodegradation consists of a gradual crazing and powdering of surface material as the molecular structure of the polymer breaks down under the influence of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The powder consists of its basic molecular elements, which are:
• Nitrogen
• Carbon Dioxide
• Carbon
• Iron Oxide
• Water
• Calcium Carbonate
• Calcium
• Nitrogen Oxide
• Ammonium Compounds
• HydrogenThese elements occur naturally in the environment, and are non-toxic.
The environmental considerations, then, depend primarily on proper use. We do not recommend that Textraw be used in areas subject to flooding, wash-out, or heavy water run-off, such as under down-spouts.
